“I worked in radio and television for a long time and felt it was important work, but the first day I spoke on the floor of the House of Assembly as an MLA, I knew I had a chance to make a real difference.”
Dave Wilson was first elected to the House of Assembly in 1999. He has won re-election five times.
Dave was born and raised in the community of Glace Bay. Roots are important to Dave and he is proud of his success in introducing, and having the House pass, a private member’s bill to change the name of his constituency from Cape Breton East to Glace Bay.
Prior to seeking public office, Wilson worked in radio and television in Cape Breton for more than two decades. He was host of the popular open line show "Talk Back" for 14 years, and has written a book about the show and its cultural significance in Cape Breton.
Dave describes his job as MLA as first and foremost being an advocate for his constituents.
Dave is married to Nancy (McPherson) and has three children: Jonathan, Daniel, and Jeana.
