Bedford’s iconic Chickenburger celebrates 70 years
The Chickenburger located on the Bedford Highway recently celebrated its 70th anniversary. The establishment is close to many Nova Scotians hearts and when you enter the classic diner it’s like stepping back to a time long past. The iconic eatery was opened in 1940 by Bernice Innes and her late husband Jack. Bernice was on hand at the celebration where a book recounting “The Life and Times of the Chickenburger” was launched. The Chickenburger, like many independent establishments across Nova Scotia, are rich in history and are fondly remembered by patrons young and old. Here’s to the Chickenburger on their 70 years in operation and the hope that it remands a staple in Bedford for years to come.
