Canadian Women Strike Gold in Hockey as Curlers Advance to Gold Medal Games

In a spectacular feat of athleticism last night, the Canadian women’s hockey team defeated the US team 2-0 with Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Que., (the youngest player on the Canadian team at 18) scoring a pair of goals in the first period which would end up being the game winners. This was the third straight Olympic title for the Canadian women’s team. The men’s team will take on Solvakia tonight for a chance to compete in the men’s gold medal game.
In other Olympic action, both the men and women’s curling team advanced to their gold medal games. The men’s team in undefeated in Olympic play and the women’s team only lost one game in their round robin play. Both will go for gold in the next few days.
These have been exciting games for Canada and the last few days promise to keep the excitement going as Canadian cheer on our Olympic athletes. GO CANADA!
