Only nine days to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games!
The 21st Winter Olympic Games were 2,417 days from their opening ceremonies when Vancouver was announced as the host city on July 2nd, 2003. The Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean, will Official Open the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics on February 12th at BC Place Stadium. Now that 2,408 days have passed, what seemed like an eternity away is now down to nine days. Expectations for Canada’s Olympic performance are high and yesterday, the Associated Press predicted a top finish in the medal counts for Canada with 30 medals followed closely by the United States and Germany with 27 medals each. I’m excited for the Olympics to return to Canadian soil in just nine days and as people from across Canada embrace the spirit of the Olympics let us be proud of the accomplishments of our Olympic athletes as the represent us on the world stage.
